Disney Channel is the one of America’s most successful children channel. Most of its programs are original series and movies as well that are promoted mostly to children. For the past years, older audience’s share has dramatically increased due to the channel’s various programs that are designed for all ages. Disney Channel is part of Disney-ABC Cable Networks, a division of THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY. The network is stationed in Burbank, California.
The network first broadcasted program aired on April 1983. That time Disney Channel air their programs for only 18 hours a day. The program that really captured the taste of the audience was the “Mickey Mouse Club”. Good Morning, Mickey, Donald Duck Presents, Dumbo’s Circus, Epcot and Welcome to Pooh Corner were the first programs produced by the Disney Channel Series. Then, President Ronald Reagan presented a special citation to the Disney Channel way back in 1984. In December 1986, the network started to air 24 hours and some foreign animated series and movies including The Raccoons, Paddington Bear and many more.
In early 1989, the network revitalized one of their greatest TV show “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” which was a phenomenal hit. Mickey Mouse club then was really blessed by new and all star-casts together with Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Justine Timberlake, JC Chasez, and a lot more. They were just the few mice that growled in their den.
By 1995, the Disney Channel has been hitting an astonishing 8 million audiences across the continental United States. Also, this time Disney began managing musical specials, which showcased N’ Sync, Backstreet Boys, M2M band, B*Witched and a lot more.
In 2001, Disney closed the seal with ABC Channel to air its original programs and now ABC airs almost all Disney Channel’s shows. From the original live action series to select active animated series.
Disney Channel modified their logo somewhere in late 2002 to celebrate its forthcoming 20th anniversary.
Today, the channel has been refashioned once more. It ends producing reality and drama shows and series and just focused to live action comedies and animated series.
An expert cable executive, Anne Sweeney, controlled the network group in 2004 and victoriously reintroduced Disney channel as major profit driver to the company. By 2008, Conde Nast Portfolio was able to note that the Channel has been adding a million viewers a month. The profitable approach was to discover, raise, and assertively promote teen music stars whose aura and approach were carefully targeted to the “tween” segment in the period between the childhood and adolescence.
Disney channel’s aim audience are toddlers, teens, and young adults, Disney Channel has gained super recognition even from audiences outside the main target audience. Now Disney became well known to its original series and also became one of the most viewed channels in the US even abroad.
That’s so Raven became the networks highest rated series of all time and still making its own history. Other very popular shows include: Hannah Montana starring Miley Cyrus, Wizards of Waverly starring Selena Gomez and David Henrie, The Cheetah Girls, High School Musical starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, Camp Rock starring Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers and more.
Demetria Devonne “Demi” Lovato is best known for her role as Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock. Demi’s impressive track record of experience includes a role as a guest appearance on a national Fox hit tv show “Prison Break”, a lead role in the hit PBS series “Barney and Friends”, and her most recent booking as a lead in Disney’s newest tv pilot “As The Bell Rings”,the national Hasbro “Hit Clips” spokesgirl, and voiceovers for both national radio and TV for Denny’s, Radica, and Hasbro. Additionally, she has won many statewide talent competitions, and has sung in such great venues as the Eismann Center and the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day Halftime Show with LeeAnn Rimes, as well as local venues around Texas.
More and more programs are still on the way and on the making in Disney Channel. Audiences are expected to see much interesting and almost true to life story series. Artists like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are all showing a very great performance and to give people a once in a life time TV shows.
